Kala Wahl is the Founder / CEO of BUREAU, based in Los Angeles. She is known for her passion for refined interior design and architecture, her connection to nature, and her ability to connect with others through thoughtful listening and candor.

She founded BUREAU in 2021 as a culmination of her passions for design, strategy, and human connection. In addition to her interior design degree from Indiana University, Kala designed within a leading global architecture firm across San Francisco and Los Angeles. She has also led and managed projects independently and on a contract basis throughout California.

For nearly a decade, Kala has been recognized within the AD100 design community as a trusted talent expert for interior designers and architects. As both a peer and advocate, her proudest work is thoughtfully aligning the right people with the right opportunities, with a focus across Los Angeles, San Francisco, and New York.

Kala’s favorite part of her work is the people and the projects — grounded in the belief that everyone, and every space, has a story to tell. She is known for translating these stories into meaningful career trajectories, with care, clarity, and intention.

She holds deep respect for her clients and their work, and approaches each engagement with sincerity — always aiming to deliver thoughtful, well-aligned outcomes so all parties can move forward with confidence.

Outside of BUREAU, Kala enjoys her husband’s cooking, discovering new restaurants, incorporating mindful movement, working with florals, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
